A Birth Doula

As a birth doula supports a woman or couple through pregnancy and labour.

My role is very much focused on emotional and practical support. . My role is NEVER to replace a midwife but to work alongside any medical professionals you may wish me to.

Birth Services Provided and Costs

Once booked, the full birth service includes:

  • Being on call for you 24 hours a day, seven days a week from two before your expected date of delivery until your baby is welcomed into the world.
  • Two antenatal visits to discuss your birth plan, active birth, or anything else you're concerned about.
  • Unlimited telephone and email contact.
  • Being present throughout labour and birth from the time you decide you need me until you're settled in comfortably with your new baby.
  • One visit after the birth for debriefing and ongoing support with breastfeeding or any other area you would like help with.
  • A keepsake Birth Bib. Please ask me for more information.

The fee for this service is normally £400 plus mileage at 20p per mile. I believe that all women who want and need a doula should have access to one, and my fee can be adjusted accordingly to reflect your needs and circumstances. Please arrange an informal meeting to discuss this further. Otherwise, a £100 deposit is due at booking. You will then be given seven days to cancel the contract and your deposit will be refunded. However, should you wish to cancel after this time, the deposit will be retained. Another £300 will be due a month before your due date, and a final invoice will be posted. A Postnatal Doula.

A postnatal doula supports a new family for the first few weeks.

 

Postnatal Services Provided and Costs

Once booked, the postnatal service includes, but is not limited to:

  • Emotional and physical support to ease the transition from hospital to home.
  • Household chores e.g. light housework, laundry, and shopping.
  • Answering the telephone, taking messages, and fielding visitors.
  • Meal preparation. See below for more information.
  • Breastfeeding support and information.
  • Care of the new baby or older siblings whilst you bond and/or rest.
  • Nursery & school runs
  • Even walk the dog!

Postnatal doula work is charged at a flat rate of £8.50 per hour plus mileage at 20p per mile. The cost of food for meal preparation is not included in this price, but will be added to the final invoice if necessary. A weeks hourly wage deposit is due at time of contract signing. You will be given seven days to cancel this contract and the deposit will be refunded. However, should you wish to cancel after this time, the deposit will be retained. Statements will be printed weekly, and a final invoice will be posted to you within 7 days after the last day of work and will have a 14 day payable period

 

 

Lotus Birth and Kangaroo Care fees can be adjusted accordingly to reflect your needs and circumstances. Please feel free to arrange an informal meeting to discuss this further.
